On April 21, 2014 at the Booth Theatre in NYC, The Velocity of Autumn opened on Broadway. Michael J Moritz Jr is a producer of this show which stars the critically acclaimed actress Estelle Parsons.

Hadestown, co-produced by Michael J. Moritz Jr., won eight TONY awards at the 73rd Annual Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Featured Actor in a Musical, Best Scenic Design of a Musical, and Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Best Sound Design of a Musical, and Best Orchestrations.

"Hadestown" Wins 6 Outer Critics Circle Awards

At the 2019 Outer Critics Circle Awards on May 13, 2019, the Broadway production of Hadestown, co-produced by Michael J. Moritz Jr., was presented with 6 awards including Outstanding New Broadway Musical, Outstanding New Score (Anaïs Mitchell), Outstanding Director of a Musical (Rachel Chavkin), Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical (Andre De Shields), Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical (Amber Gray), and Outstanding Lighting Design.

The winners will be honored at a May 23rd event at Sardi’s.

Hadestown is now running at the Walter Kerr Theatre.

"Hadestown" Receives 14 Tony Award Nominations!

The 2019 Tony Award nominations were announced on Tuesday, April 30th. Hadestown leads with 14 nominations, including Best Musical, Best Director of a Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Leading Actress in A Musical.

The Anaïs Mitchell musical, directed by Rachel Chavkin and co-produced by Michael J. Moritz Jr., stars Reeve Carney (Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark), Amber Gray (Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812) Eva Noblezada (Tony Award Nominee for Miss Saigon), Andre De Shields, and Patrick Page.

"Hadestown" Will Release Original Broadway Cast Album

The Broadway production of Hadestown will release an Original Broadway Cast recording on all major digital and streaming platforms on June 7th, 2019.

On Tuesday, November 13th, 2018 Hadestown opened in the Olivier Theatre at The National Theatre in London. Michael J. Moritz Jr. will co-produce the Hadestown transfer to Broadway in April 2019.
